Job Description

Position Summary :

Under general supervision, processes employee workers compensation claims and benefits, including preparation of legal forms for the Workers Compensation Commission. Computes workers compensation benefits due employee as well as approving payments for employees' medical bills and issuance of checks for claims. Works with attorney and supervisor to negotiate settlements.

Education:

High school diploma or GED

Knowledge of medical terminology and experience with computer programs to track and trend data are necessary.

Knowledge:

Comprehensive level of knowledge of workers’ compensation law, insurance claims’ procedures and claims’ investigation as acquired in two to three years related experience.

Skills:

Must have substantial communication skills both oral and written to ensure effective relationships with medical and administrative personnel within the Institution and, externally, with attorneys and claimants.

Must have a relatively high level of analytical skills to analyze and interpret statistical and narrative reports and to evaluate the liability and monetary potential in specific claims.

Knowledge of workers’ compensation laws.

Work Experience

Minimum of two year workers' compensation experience

Salary Range: $18.59/hour - $30.69/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
