JOB SUMMARY:

The VP of R&D is responsible for research, concept generation and refinement, new product development, improvement of existing products, and intellectual property management for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders through the modulation of enteric and vagal neural pathways.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Aids CEO in the creation, execution and communication of company vision and strategy, especially as it relates to product offerings.
• Hires, leads, and manages the engineering team.
• Responsible for all internal and oustsourced engineering functions (development and technical sourcing).
• Budgetary responsibility for the timely completion of product design, transfer to manufacturing, regulatory submissions and sustaining engineering operations.
• Works closely with marketing and sales to understand and shape clinical and customer product needs
• Works closely with health economics and market access to understand how reimbursement affects product design and vice versa
• Works closely with quality to develop highly reliable products in a compliant quality system
• Works closely with regulatory to design products and processes that gain approvals timely and efficiently

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• B.A. or B.S. and M.B.A. or other advanced degree
• At least 10 years of experience in Medical Device product development, with organizational management, technical management, strong financial acumen, intellectual property development, successes leading complex contractual relationships, excellent understanding of technology and business trends.
• A track record of technology innovation, design, development, and implementation
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
• Ability to travel to meet with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders
• The ideal candidate would have experience developing active implantables, neuromodulation therapies, and gastric interventions
