The Utah State Board of Education (USBE) is looking for a talented individual passionate about state fiscal policy. We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented person to help administer the Minimum School Program (MSP), a collection of more than 30 education funding programs that distribute nearly $5 billion per year in state funds to Utah school districts and charter schools.

Principal Duties

Working alongside other MSP professionals, your duties will include:

• Preparing complex calculations in Excel
• Managing monthly payments to school districts and charter schools
• Supporting the continued development and maintenance of the MSP Automated System
• Analyzing, summarizing and reviewing data
• Reporting findings, interpreting results and presenting recommendations
• Educating and supporting business officials from Utah school districts and charter schools
• Communicating with key staff and contacts from other Utah state agencies

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for this position is someone who has:

• A bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, business management or a related field,
• Two or more years of experience in an accounting, finance or a related role,
• Excellent analytical, writing, and presenting skills,
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively,
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially advanced working knowledge of Excel,
• Experience forecasting, tracking, and reporting budgets,
• Experience using query software and data manipulation tools, and
• An eye for detail and is meticulous in their work.
