This position will float between the Free Standing Emergency Departments' located in Miamisburg, Jamestown, & Beavercreek (OH)
Full-Time Night Shift (11:00 PM - 7:30 AM or 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM) Responsibilities: - Conduct and document routine maintenance, calibrations, and quality control on all instruments, reagents, and test systems.
- Prepare, evaluate, and label specimens accurately for pre-, post-, and analytical processes.
- Perform and report all tests efficiently and accurately, following established policies and procedures.
- Review results using patient history when applicable; recognize, troubleshoot, and resolve unexpected or questionable lab values in consultation with pathologists or providers.
- Identify and act on factors affecting test accuracy, including patient look-backs, repeat testing, and suspension of autoverification when necessary.
- Detect and address instrument, reagent, or supply problems; troubleshoot issues and contact technical support as needed.
- Prioritize workload to meet turnaround times; accurately record and report results in the LIS, including prompt notification of critical values.
- Store and transport specimens appropriately; prepare and issue blood and blood products.
- Review pending logs to ensure timely completion of testing and maintain smooth shift transitions by preparing instruments and escalating issues as needed.
- Provide courteous and timely customer support, including handling corrected reports per department policy.
- Maintain competency through continuing education and proficiency testing; support and train new employees, students, and Technical Assistants.
- Assist with departmental projects, specimen processing, and other duties as assigned.
- Collaborate effectively within the department and across sites to meet operational goals and staffing needs.
- Adhere to all safety, compliance, and HR policies of CompuNet Clinical Laboratories.
- Work with patients in the emergency room.
- Operate the emergency room independently during night shifts without assistance.
Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Medical Laboratory Science (MLT/MLS/CLS).
- ASCP or AMT certification (or eligible) or comparable required.
- Phlebotomy required - on-the-job training available.
Physical & Safety Demands:
- Demonstrate hand-finger dexterity to collect, process, and test specimens.
- Stand for prolonged periods and lift or transport laboratory supplies and reagents.
- Understand and follow verbal and written directions; maintain focus to complete tasks accurately and on time.
- Work effectively under pressure and meet specified deadlines.
- Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Safely work with biohazardous substances and hazardous chemicals while adhering to all company safety, ergonomic, health, and PPE policies.
- Complete required safety training and health evaluations promptly.
- Identify potential safety hazards, take corrective action, and promote safety awareness.
