Job Description



AECOM is seeking a self-motivated and experienced  Hydrogeologist, who has 4 years of experience  to support environmental investigation and remediation projects in  Parkersburg, West Virginia . This role is ideal for candidates with a strong background in hydrogeology and environmental consulting, and who bring project management experience or a desire to grow into a leadership role.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and executing site characterization, groundwater investigations, and remediation activities. The position involves both office and field work, with a focus on technical planning, data analysis, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead or support environmental investigations at a chemical plant site, including groundwater, soil, and vapor sampling.
  • Develop and implement site investigation work plans, health and safety plans, and remediation strategies.
  • Manage environmental data and contribute to conceptual site models.
  • Oversee subcontractors including drilling, excavation, and laboratory services.
  • Conduct aquifer testing, geophysical surveys, and monitoring well installations.
  • Prepare technical reports and regulatory submittals.
  • Support or lead project management tasks including budgeting, scheduling, and client communication.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and mentor junior staff.

 

Qualifications



Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in environmental investigation and remediation OR a combination of experience and education.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle records check.
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Successful candidate will be required to pass a Drug and Alcohol screen.

Preferred

Qualifications

:

  • 6+ years of experience in environmental consulting, with a focus on hydrogeology and remediation.
  • Experience working at chemical manufacturing or industrial sites.
  • Project management experience or demonstrated leadership in environmental consulting.
  • Proficiency in groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling.
  • Strong technical writing and reporting skills.
  • Familiarity with West Virginia environmental regulations.
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification and current 8-hour refresher.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and environmental data management tools.
