As a Sheet Metal Mechanic, you will have the opportunity to work in a well-established company with a history of profitability and a wide footprint across the southern east coast of the United States.

Sheet Metal Mechanic Responsibilities:

• Residential HVAC and/or Plumbing experience preferred
• Read and comprehend blueprints & develops additional sketches if needed
• Measures, cuts, and welds pieces together according to specifications, blueprints, or direction
• Connects pieces or secures seams by riveting, rolling, soldering, or using steel screws
• Shutdown and startups of equipment with other departments after sheet metal installation
• Develops and maintains records for projects and repairs

Sheet Metal Installer Requirements:

• HVAC industry experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of verified HVAC and sheet metal field experience is generally required, often at a journeyman level. Ability to lift 75+ lbs.
• Installation proficiency: You must be skilled in the installation and repair of a variety of residential and commercial HVAC systems, including heat pumps, furnaces, air handlers, and rooftop units.
• Ductwork expertise: Key skills include designing, fabricating, installing, and troubleshooting ductwork and fittings. Proficiency in reading blueprints, layouts, and wiring diagrams is essential for this role.
• Tool and equipment knowledge: You must be proficient in using a wide range of hand and power tools common to the trade. Experience operating specialized equipment, such as duct jacks, man lifts, and various testing devices, is also necessary. 
• Valid Driver’s License
• Successful completion of criminal background and MVR check to company standard
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Sheet Metal Installer Leadership & Soft Skills:

 Leadership and supervision: A primary qualification for a lead mechanic is the ability to train, mentor, and supervise junior mechanics and apprentices. This includes delegating tasks, overseeing work quality, and planning project timelines.

• Communication and customer service: You must have excellent communication skills to interact with team members, project managers, and customers. It is crucial to be able to explain technical issues clearly and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Problem-solving and decision-making: The role requires strong analytical skills to diagnose system malfunctions and troubleshoot problems with electrical, refrigerant, and duct systems. You must also be able to make important decisions related to projects and personnel.
• Physical and mental demands: The job is physically demanding, often requiring the ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs), work in confined spaces, and stand for long periods. You must also be detail-oriented and able to manage administrative tasks, such as maintaining records and estimating material costs.
